What is Restorative yoga?

Rather than focusing on building strength and flexibility, restorative yoga promotes relaxation, engages the parasympathetic nervous system, and holds space for the body to heal itself.

The origins of restorative yoga can be traced back to B.K.S. Iyengar. His intentional use of props to facilitate deep healing is a key aspect of the practice. Judith Hanson Lasater, a student of Iyengar, was a prominent teacher and writer who further developed restorative yoga in the west during the 70s and well into today.

Restorative postures are held anywhere from 5 - 20 minutes each. Props such as blankets, bolsters, and blocks are used to create support, allowing for your muscles and mind to completely relax.

Some of the benefits of restorative yoga include improved sleep, improved emotional wellbeing, release of chronic tension, and reduced stress.

My teaching style is an eclectic blend of skillsets that make for a yogic experience unlike any other.

Over the years, my practice and teaching style have evolved alongside me. From Ashtanga to Restorative, it’s been quite the journey. Much like a kaleidoscope, these fractals of wisdom are always with me and shine vibrantly in many different ways.

Each class is crafted with intention and care to create transformative experiences that stay with you long after you’ve stepped off the mat. Through creative sequencing, thought-provoking intention setting, optional hands-on adjustments, and thematic playlists, each class tells a story.
